ABOUT THE TEACHER:

Leslie Marfil is a french dancer/choreographer who started ballet at the age of 7 in a small school in Nouméa, New-Caledonia. At 18 years old, she received an apprentice contract at the European Junior Ballet in Paris and was trained in contemporary, modern dance, jazz, as well as theater and voice at the International Dance Academy. She completed her studies with a state registered diploma as dancer teacher and an artist-dancer diploma. It was a creation project with Emmanuel Vignoulle that ignited her passion for contemporary dance.
In parallel with her studies, Leslie traveled to enhance her technique : taking GAGA classes in Amsterdam, studying repertoire from Hofesh Shechter’s company members in London, and a week at P.A.R.T.S for Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker’s repertoire in Brussels. Back in Paris, she joined the company Maison M to perform EVE88 by Emmanuelle Soum.
In 2023, she received an opportunity to dance with Visceral Dance Chicago in the U.S where she worked with Roderick George and Gustavo Ramirez, as well as choreographing her first piece, DONJON64. After a year in the company, she decided to move to Los Angeles to keep growing in her career as a dancer/choreographer and looks forward to connect with the community there.
