Worship the Sun King
A Clown Dance Theater Experiment
Conceived and Directed by Darrian O'Reilly
Set inside the horny, competitive, and unhygienic royal court of Louis XIV, noblemen train in dance, vying for the king’s favor, yet some of them just don’t have good turnout. Meanwhile, the Squishy Peasants revolt against the King’s new oppressive legislation demanding elegant lines, and local witches are recruited for assassination. Can the king survive the brewing resentment across his land aka “France”? And will his newly standardized dance form, “ballet” stand the test of time?
Worship the Sun King was made in the spirit of experimentation and collaboration with a crew of Los Angeles clowns, performance artists, dancers, and actors.
